The 1% rule, in plain English

Most disciplined traders risk 0.5–2% of their account on any one trade. At 1%, you could lose ten trades in a row and still have ~90% of your money — annoying, survivable. At 10%, the same streak nearly wipes you out. The percentage isn't about being timid; it's about guaranteeing you're still standing when the winning trade finally comes.

Risk is a decision, not an accident

This number is chosen before the trade, when you're calm — not during the drawdown, when you're not. Once you know your risk per trade, the position size calculator turns it into an exact number of shares using your entry and stop-loss.
